Exxell wins recruitment contract for Schiphol Airport

Posted on 27 November 2009 by admin

Engineering recruitment specialist Exxell has sealed a new contract to supply baggage-handling staff for one of Europe’s busiest air terminals.

The three-year contract – which starts on January 1 is with leading engineering support services company Babcock.
One of the biggest airport baggage-handling specialists in the UK, Babcock also operates at all five of the Heathrow terminals. Exxell’s Steve Laurie has been supplying staff to Babcock for the last seven years and Exxell will be the sole UK recruitment supplier for the new Dutch contract.

The Schiphol contract will see Exxell looking to recruit a number of maintenance technicians, maintenance supervisors and maintenance managers within the baggage-handling operation at the airport in Amsterdam where 91 different airlines fly to and from.
Exxell’s Engineering Division Manager Steve, who recently spent two days at Schiphol Airport preparing for the start of the contract in the new year, said: “We have a lot of experience in working with Babcock so we understand the systems involved and the type of people needed for this sort of work.

“The major issues in supplying staff for jobs like these are the skills required and the necessity for security clearance at one of the busiest airports in the world. The client is looking to put together a team of around 60 staff and we are hoping to make a significant contribution to this team.”

Exxell supplies more than 400 temporary staff each week to businesses across the UK. Clients include Bailey Maintenance, Babcock, Westinghouse, Alfred McAlpine, Network Rail and EDF Energy
Exxell is the UK technical arm of ultimate parent company Synergie, the 5th largest recruiter in Europe with more than 600 branches and a turnover of €1bn.
