The shortlist feature of the app enables the user to store the most relevant vacancies so that they are easily accessible when the applicant is ready to apply.

Android statistics are proving difficult to ignore as this month saw Android sales overtake the iPhone in America for the first time, and we want to ensure that job seekers on different platforms can receive the same additional benefits that iPhone consumers can.”

Regional jobs go Mobile with the launch of Job Patch’s new iPhone app

Posted on 24 March 2010 by admin

Job Patch are celebrating the release of their brand new job search application for the iPhone, which has just gone live within the iTunes store. The application, built with technology provided by AllTheTopBananas.com, enables job seekers to search for jobs in all sectors within the Midlands area and apply for jobs directly with their iPhone, making the job search fully mobile.

The application gives proactive jobseekers the opportunity to get ahead in their job search; providing them with the latest, most up-to-date jobs from Job Patch. Job seekers can keep up with all of the latest vacancies as they become available, and save, email or apply for the jobs with the iPhone. The application allows the job seeker to refine their search by entering specific location data, or using the iPhone’s inbuilt GPS to match their location to the job search.

The application also enables job seekers to search by job title and salary for accurate job results. Those jobs which a user has already viewed appear greyed out for an enhanced user experience.

Philip Sharples, MD of Job Patch said: “Working with AllTheTopBananas was an effortless process and suited our needs as we are always striving to improve our service to meet our customer’s needs- for both the employer and the job seeker. This is the first of many new and innovative concepts we intend to implement this year. We hope our users find this new application a useful tool for their job searching armory.”

Job Patch’s iPhone application is the first UK job search app which provides jobs for region based job seeking, putting them ahead of the competition in this sector of the mobile web space.

Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com says: “We are delighted to have been able to work with Job Patch to help create their iPhone application for job seekers in the Midlands. It is fantastic to see generalist, niche and regional job boards embracing mobile web, as it provides an invaluable resource for job seekers on the move. Many of our clients have seen a huge growth in mobile user interaction after launching their app. Interestingly, not just in downloads from the AppStore, but also in users visiting the website from an iPhone. In a couple of cases there has been as much as 2 or 3 times growth, which positively shows that job seekers are embracing the service, and is also an excellent achievement for brand awareness and recognition in the mobile space. The iPhone is the web beyond the browser, and this exciting and powerful space is one that all businesses should consider having a presence within.”

The Job Patch iPhone app is available to download now from the iTunes AppStore.

AllTheTopBananas.com reveal the UK Jobs Market is off to a slow start

Posted on 16 February 2010 by admin

The UK jobs market is off to a slow start in 2010, according to jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com. New job data analysed for the site’s leading job advertisers for December showed a 22% decline in job availability when compared with November 2009. The results for January provide a similarly sluggish outlook, with job availability increasing only slightly by 19% since December.

The end of January saw the UK officially emerge from recession, although the growth that the economy achieved was far below expectations, suggesting that there may be a long way to go before the economy and the jobs market significantly recovers. An article on the BBC news website yesterday [February 15th] suggests that the recruitment industry may well be in for a tough time ahead, as public sector job cuts are expected in the coming months.

AllTheTopBananas.com have been analysing job data and salary indexes since 2008 and have monitored the changes in job count data throughout the recession. Although the new decade has not thus far provided a major influx in job availability, industry experts are still confident that 2010 will see a significant improvement within the jobs market.

Dave Martin, MD for AllTheTopBananas.com said: “The job statistics for the fourth quarter of 2009 heralded very positive results for the jobs market; with October in particular being a very strong month in terms of available jobs. While the Christmas period experienced a welcome boost to the number of jobs available, we have seen January struggle to keep up the pace, taking off to a relatively slow start. Overall the job count for January is 30% behind that of a year previously; however the UK weather conditions have affected all business operations during the early part of the year which affects any year on year comparison. It suggests a positive but slow return to form, which we will continue to monitor on a monthly basis.”

AllTheTopBananas will continue to provide monthly figures on job availability throughout the year. Along with their research, the jobs search engine will be launching the first public beta testing of their brand new site changes at TruLondon’s recruitment unconference in London on the 18th of February. The site changes being unveiled will focus on refining their search technology; including a similar jobs matching service, which uses AllTheTopBananas’ job title conversion technology to enhance relevancy of the jobs displayed. Other site changes include using icons to display relevant job data to the jobseeker, by using a system which picks out key phrases from the job description.

AllTheTopBananas celebrate market lead in iPhone jobs space

Posted on 11 February 2010 by admin

AllTheTopBananas.com are today celebrating the launch of their latest job seeking iPhone applications, created for the Total Jobs group and CV Library, which have gone live in the iTunes app store. The applications, including apps for niche sites caterer.com, salestarget.co.uk, retailchoice.com and careerstructure.com brings the current total of job seeking apps developed by AllTheTopBananas to 11. The site has enjoyed a very successful uptake of the service since they began offering out their iPhone technology to job boards in October last year.

AllTheTopBananas have produced iPhone applications for 6 niche, and 5 generalist boards including their own job seeking application. Their latest addition to the app store sees AllTheTopBananas dominate a majority presence of 58% of the market space for UK iPhone Job Search applications; with only 8 other iPhone applications in the app store providing a dedicated service to the UK jobs market.

The jobs search engine’s success in the iPhone market has been acknowledged within the recruitment industry, seeing AllTheTopBananas make it into the finalist round for the 2010 OnRec awards for “Technical innovation from a recruitment supplier”. The 2010 Onrec Awards will take place in central London on 31st March. This is the first time that the jobs search engine have been nominated for an OnRec award, adding to their successful start to the year; which has also seen the site experience its highest volumes of traffic since launch.

The job seeking applications created for boards by AllTheTopBananas.com are continuing to receive increasingly high weekly downloads in the app store. The sites are also seeing an increasing percentage of traffic coming to their sites from iPhones month on month. The applications give jobseekers the ability to hold their job search in the palm of their hand- to save and apply for jobs by using keyword or location based searches. The value of cross platform integration is becoming a key part of the job board’s future, as more and more recruitment businesses find themselves on Twitter, Facebook and wanting a space on the iPhone- which currently dominates around 54% of all mobile web traffic.

Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com said: “We are absolutely delighted to have a significantly substantial market share of the UK iPhone jobs market. We have developed iPhone apps for the leading job boards enabling them to be recognised on this fast growing, mobile job seeking platform. Until this point the UK market was not taking full advantage of this valuable branding space, with UK job seekers missing out on the wealth of resources available to those in the US, so we are extremely happy to be able to provide this service for jobseekers and job boards alike. The future of the mobile market is bright, and we have a lot of developments in the pipeline to bring our job search and our partners’ job searches to the iPad, the Google Platform, and other operating systems, so all jobseekers can benefit. It is a very exciting project and we are looking forward to continue to lead the way forward for the recruitment industry.”

AllTheTopBananas to launch site changes at TruLondon’s recruitment unconference.

Posted on 08 February 2010 by admin

AllTheTopBananas.com have today announced that they will be launching the first public beta testing of their brand new site changes at TruLondon’s recruitment unconference in London on the 18th of February. Delegates of the unconference will be given the chance to test the new advanced features of AllTheTopBananas’ job search before the changes are officially rolled out to the public.

The testing will give recruitment insiders the opportunity to provide opinions and feedback on AllTheTopBananas’ site changes, which have been developed after months of research into usability and enhancing job clicks from quality, relevant candidates. AllTheTopBananas have developed technology which is able to identify key features of the job description and display them in icon form; so that users are alerted to significant elements of the displayed job, such as education and skill requirements, and information on job perks.

Other changes include a refined similar jobs matching service, which uses AllTheTopBananas’ job title conversion technology to enhance relevancy of the jobs displayed. There is also an increased level of branding for job boards on the jobs results pages, so that users are more aware of the source of a vacancy they are interested in; an added benefit for all jobseekers and clients.

Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com said: “We are very pleased to be beta testing our site changes at Tru London’s recruitment unconference. We have spent a lot of time researching and developing our job search to enable enhanced usability for our jobseekers. Our main priority is to ensure accurate candidate matching to vacancies- quality jobseekers, who are serious about and qualified for, the vacancies that they click on. By providing a user with more information to aid their selection process we are aiming to reduce job applicant spam and further increase the quality of our clicks, which will benefit both jobseeker and job board alike. The beta testing will give others in the recruitment industry a chance to see what we’ve been up to and help to improve the quality of service we offer. This significant update to our technology and search engine will help us towards our mission of being ‘the most helpful job search engine’. The new features are a peek into the future of supporting pragmatic jobseekers, and we feel that The TRU London event is a great base to launch the beta. We will be offering a limited supply of our free banana beer as a thank you for taking the time to assist our final round of research before we launch.”

The popular TRU London recruitment event is run by Bill Boorman, and will give recruitment industry experts the chance to debate and discuss a variety of topics in an informal, participant driven way. The 1 hour ‘tracks’ will question and discuss important recruitment topics such as social recruiting and the future of the job board. It takes place on the 17th-19th February in Soho. AllTheTopBananas will be beta testing their site changes on Thursday 18th Feb, and are official media sponsors of the event. Limited tickets are still available; for more information about the Tru London recruitment unconference, visit the website: http://thetruconferences.com/

Allthetopbananas.com reports stable job market after 2 months of growth.

Posted on 11 December 2009 by admin

Jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com has today released new figures that analyse their job data for the month of November. AllTheTopBananas revealed that the overall job volume has decreased since October, seeing the advertised number of vacancies fall, by 12%. The drop is in line with seasonal expectations, illustrating a stable market after the previous months of growth.

AllTheTopBananas.com has previously reported positive upward trends in the number of jobs advertised for both September and October. Although the job volume has decreased for the month of November, this is an expected seasonal trend, with the Christmas period altering conventional patterns in recruitment. The site will continue to observe the changes seen in the jobs market over the coming months and document the results.

Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com states: “Although the figures analysed for November do show a decrease in the overall job volumes of the data analysed, this should not be seen as a worry. This trend is usual for this time of year. What is important to note is that this decrease is identical to that of the same period last year, and is not a drastic drop in the overall job volumes; in fact, it is significantly less than month on month losses seen earlier in the year. The job volume for November is still higher than 6 out of the 10 previous months of 2009, which is also a very positive sign that we are slowly recouping the losses incurred by recession.”

Positive signs are continuing within the recruitment industry, as reports released from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG show. Their report highlights that November has seen the fastest rise in permanent vacancies for 28 months.  Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive, stated in a press release that: “Employers in nearly all sectors are lifting recruitment freezes and starting to hire again.”

AllTheTopBananas will continue to measure the changes to the job count for the end of 2009 into 2010, and regularly publish these figures so that others within the industry can compare their own data and monitor changes within the results. The site has just launched a microsite outlining the range of products and services they have available to job boards and other recruitment businesses, including a press section with their research. The microsite can be accessed through the ‘Advertisers’ section of AllTheTopBananas.com

Recruitment recovery continues in the run up to Christmas

Posted on 10 November 2009 by admin

October has proven to be a fruitful month for the recruitment industry, according to jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com. The site has been analysing job count data from a selection of the leading job advertisers on the site on a monthly basis, to monitor the impact of recession on recruitment. The latest figures released have indicated a significant increase in the amount of jobs advertised in October, and has heralded the second largest number of jobs since January 2009.

Of the data collected there has been an increase of 41% on the job count since July 2009, which is considerably more than in the same period last year, which only saw vacancies rise by 13% from July to October 2008. October’s statistics have proved encouraging for the recruitment industry, as the numbers of jobs recorded for October is up by 25% on the previous month. Initial signs suggest that this trend should continue way into the first quarter of 2010, although there is still a long way to go before jobs will be advertised in the same volume as 2008; as the site calculated that the overall job count has fallen by 48% since 2008.

The data analysed included job statistics for specialist sites in retail, catering, sales, IT and generalist job boards; all of which showed an increased number of vacancies. The results prove particularly significant for the retail sector, which has thus far been heavily affected by the recession.

Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com suggests that: “The new data for October has proven to be very significant in our monitoring of the recession. The increased job count has come at a time when we are hearing a lot of positive noises within the economy. Last week reports from the US identified that the period from July to September was the first period of economic growth in over a year, indicating that the US economy is recovering well. In the UK, we have been hearing good news from the Halifax that house prices have risen by 1.2% in October, and even success stories in retail; with John Lewis reporting a fifth weekly increase in sales at the end of October. The job market seems to be predicting the dawn of recovery, and we are very pleased to be reporting some good news within the industry, and seeing it translate to other aspects of the economy.”

The site will continue to measure the changes to the job count over the coming months, and regularly publish these figures so that others within the industry can compare their own data and monitor changes within the results. AllTheTopBananas.com are also currently working with other recruitment businesses to increase their marketplace exposure, by creating white branded iPhone job seeking solutions. Could Recession be replaced with a new ‘R’ word?

Posted on 15 October 2009 by admin

Signs of recovery are starting to be seen within the recruitment industry, and October promises to be a positive month for the job market. Industry experts have acknowledged that we may at last be witnessing the beginning of an upturn, and that recruitment should certainly start to pick up in momentum rapidly by the first quarter of 2010. Jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com has recently released statistics confirming reports that the recruitment industry may be on the verge of an upturn, as well as reporting a record month in 2009 for business as advertisers begin to increase spending in the marketplace.

AllTheTopBananas.com analysed raw data from a cross section of some of their longest standing blue chip customers to measure the impact of the recession on recruitment. Of the data analysed, AllTheTopBananas.com have reported a 48% drop in the average number of jobs advertised when compared with figures from 2008. Whilst the recession has clearly affected the advertised vacancy counts in 2009, the study also showed positive signs of recovery for the months ahead. A 13% increase in the average jobs advertised was recorded from July to September 2009, in comparison to a much smaller growth rate of 3% seen in the same period last year.

“What we are beginning to see”, says Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas.com “are the first signs of recovery for the job market. Not only are job boards and recruitment agencies beginning to have their budgets unlocked, but also the amount of jobs advertised is beginning to increase again. We are by no means out of the woods just yet, and the road to recovery will certainly have an impact on the job market. How people in the industry respond to the upturn will seriously affect which businesses make it out on the other side in the best possible position.”

Whilst the signs are looking positive that 2010 will deliver good things for the recruitment industry, it is a time when job boards, aggregators and recruiters will need to think about adapting to the changing marketplace. With more jobs on the horizon and thousands of active jobseekers, marketing will be fundamental to really stand out in the marketplace.

Dave Martin suggests that: “For us, innovation is key. There has never been a more important time for us to focus on new developments that can help the jobseeker and the job board. This year has seen the birth of our CV distribution service FreeMyCV, which has enabled us to improve our service to job boards by providing them with real-time active candidates to fill vacancies. Our focus over the last few months has been to sit up and listen to the market and witness the ever increasing stronghold of social media. Twitter and the iPhone are two entities that are growing beyond belief and provide great platforms for us to engage with our market and help to increase the transparency of the recruitment industry. Brand awareness at this crucial time could make or break a business in this industry, and these new platforms offer new ways to connect jobseekers and businesses to our brands.”

AllTheTopBananas.com provides services to recruitment businesses from email marketing to HR and iPhone development. For full details contact AllTheTopBananas.com on: 0844 800 1616.
