New General Job Site CVSearch.co.uk Launches with Free Job Listings for All Recruiters!

Posted on 31 March 2010 by admin

This month, www.cvsearch.co.uk has been launched with the intention of becoming the UK’s leading general recruitment website.

CVSearch.co.uk was built with the aim to make the recruitment process as simple and easy as possible for recruiters, in partnership with its jobseeker portal www.cvdatabase.co.uk
In just over 3 weeks, the site has attracted over 150 recruitment companies, listing over 560 jobs. Managing Director Sam Rawson said “We’ve had a great response to the launch, with so many recruiters signing up and listing their vacancies, it’s given us a great base to attract jobseekers onto the site.”

Starting at the beginning of April www.cvdatabase.co.uk – the job seeking side of the site will be launching a large marketing campaign. Rawson continued “We’re not just going to blow our marketing budget on Google, we’re looking at all different avenues to bring candidates on board. In the next few weeks we’ll have promotion teams visiting most of the UK’s major city centres doing some face to face marketing, and that is just the start of what we’ve got lined up.”

Although the site has launched and is now live, CVSearch.co.uk has yet to unveil its secret weapon. “To give our site a unique selling point we have been developing a system for candidates to verify elements of their CV’s with an established background screening firm. We believe this will really give our site an edge on the competition as it benefits both job seekers, and employers.” Rawson explains “The cost is fronted by the candidate, as it will help give worth to their CV. For example they can verify the university degree they achieved – this is then reflected on their CV, and will help them stand out from other applicants. The benefit to recruiters are that they can rely on information the candidate has verified, and do not have to incur costs doing it themselves. We think this is a win – win situation in a candidate rich market.”

Posted on 24 March 2010 by admin

TUI Travel PLC, the BBC and learnpurple are some of the best places to find an internship as the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) announces the winners of its annual Awards.

TUI Travel PLC, the world’s leading international leisure travel group, beat more than 250 companies to be crowned overall winner at yesterday’s (23 March 2010) ceremony at Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London. Gordon McKenzie, director for the office for graduate opportunities for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills presented 23 NCWE Awards* across 11 categories, rewarding companies that have demonstrated exceptional work placements.

Award winning organisations came from a range of sizes and sectors including Barclays, BBC and Audiences North East. This year saw the introduction of the Best Work Placement Diversity Scheme category, which was won by Pinsent Masons LLP.

TUI Travel PLC also won Best Work Experience Provider in the ‘new scheme’ and ‘over 250 employees (long-term placements, employing less than 20 students)’ categories. Talent retention specialist, learnpurple received a Highly Commended Award in the ’10-250 employees’ category.

Heather Collier, director of the NCWE comments: “We’re now in the seventh year of the awards and their increasing popularity reflects the growing importance of work experience in allowing students to develop skills while providing companies a talent pool for recruitment. With more companies competing than ever before our winners have done exceptionally well, demonstrating best practice for others to follow.”

Rachel McAneny, trading assistant for TUI UK and Ireland said: “We were delighted to have won both categories, but to have been crowned overall winners was the icing on the cake. We believe we provide an exceptional experience for our students, offering a well-planned approach, exciting opportunities and a supportive environment, so it’s fantastic to receive recognition from the National Council for Work Experience.”

The NCWE Awards encourage and reward employers who take the lead in the provision of valuable work placement opportunities for undergraduates; setting high standards for others to follow by offering fulfilling work placements that help students to bridge the gap between education and the world of work.

Doug Baird, Managing Director, of Interim Partners comments: “Simon has been a consistently strong performer. He is very well regarded across the FMCG sector where his specialist expertise and in-depth knowledge of the sector’s requirements really sets him apart.”

“We’re expecting to see continued growth in demand for interims from FMCG companies and having Simon’s expertise at board level will be invaluable in capitalising on that.”

UK Online Recruitment Reaches Highest Level Since December 2008, According to Monster Employment Index

Posted on 09 March 2010 by admin

The Monster Employment Index UK rose by 12 percent in February, and improved six percent from a year ago, reflecting continued acceleration in its long-term growth trend to suggest a continued firming in underlying labour demand conditions. The overall level of online job availability in February was higher than any point since December 2008.

In addition to the month-on-month growth registered by the IT sector, the production and transportation sectors displayed positive annual improvements, signalling an upswing in demand trends for manufacturing and commerce related workers and thereby lending some evidence that business activity is reviving. Sales and arts also showed positive online recruitment growth trends.

The Monster Employment Index Europe is a monthly analysis of millions of online job opportunities culled from a large, representative selection of corporate career sites and job boards across the European Union, including Monster.co.uk.

Monster Employment Index UK findings for the past 13 months are as follows:

Feb 10 Jan 10 Dec 09 Nov 09 Oct 09 Sep 09 Aug 09 Jul 09 Jun09 May09 Apr09 Mar09 Feb09
124 111 120 116 114 107 109 110 110 109 112 110 117

“The February Index findings show that UK online job recruitment activity continues to trend higher, with the annual growth rate hitting six percent,” commented Julian Acquari, Managing Director at Monster UK and Ireland. “However, despite the Index’s emergence from the low points of 2009, the job market remains challenging in this fragile economy.”

Majority of sectors register rise in online recruitment, IT shows best growth

The vast majority of industry sectors registered a rise in online recruitment activity between January and February, with 11 sectors achieving positive annual growth.

The IT sector registered the fastest monthly growth, adding 15 points (19 percent). Year-on-year the sector has gained eight percent, indicating a much improved job market for professionals in the computer field relative to the market at the beginning of 2009.

Arts, entertainment, sports, leisure registered a 14 point (11 percent) increase in the February Index, rising for a fourth consecutive month. Sales also registered an upturn.

In contrast to IT, other highly technical sectors, including research and development; and engineering, have annual declines of 26 percent and 24 percent respectively, making them the poorest trending of all the sectors in the Index.

Healthcare, social work edged down in the February Index, but the decline is somewhat aligned with seasonal patterns for this time of year. Public sector, defence, community logged an unseasonably steep monthly decline, with current online demand slightly below its year-ago level.

Clerical support workers group continues to register upturn

Online job demand strengthened in eight of the nine occupational groups monitored by the Index in February. Professionals saw the largest monthly rise in opportunities, jumping 15 points (15 percent). The annual pace of decline flattened from 14 percent in January to 4 percent in February, but remains weaker than the overall national trend.

Clerical support workers extended an upward trend in the Index, as online demand for back-office workers expanded for a seventh consecutive month. The improvement in job availability was unmatched by any other occupational group.

Growth observed in all regions

All UK regions registered a rise in online job availability between January and February. Northern England displayed the highest rate of increase in February, rising 19 points (15 percent) in February. Year-on-year the region is up nine percent in the Index.

Northern Ireland also continued on a track of expansion, adding 13 points in February, and rising 19 percent above its year-ago level. London and Wales were the top growth regions in the Index year-on-year; the only regions to fall below their February 2009 levels were East Anglia and the South East, indicating that those local climates for job creation are still challenging.

Jobsite launches iPhone app as part of ongoing mobile strategy

Posted on 03 March 2010 by admin

Finding a job just got a little easier for iPhone users, as Jobsite.co.uk launch ‘Jobsite Jobs’ – their free job search application.

This latest innovation is part of Jobsite’s philosophy to make job hunting quicker, easier and less frustrating. The ‘Jobsite Jobs’ app enables job seekers to search for jobs whenever and wherever they want, ensuring they never miss an opportunity.

Users can search for jobs by job title, location, contract type and date added to the site – from the last two hours to the previous seven days. Results can be sorted by relevance, salary or date. Job seekers are able to view full details of the job on their iPhone and have the choice to save the opportunity and apply later or apply via their iPhone using their CV stored on Jobsite.

Keith Potts, CEO of Jobsite.co.uk comments; “Traditionally, going online was restricted to a computer but with the development of new technologies there is a quickly developing preference  among some audience segments to search the web via mobile.”

“Last year we saw the number of people using mobile devices to access Jobsite increase dramatically, with a growth of 136% between January and its peak in October. We expect this to increase further with the wider adoption of smart phones in 2010 and beyond.”

”To ensure we provide the best service to this audience the ‘Jobsite Jobs’ iPhone app is the first in a series of mobile developments. Over the coming months we will be launching further innovative products and tools to help job seekers look for work in the most convenient way for them. This commitment will also help to ensure that our recruiters continue to find the best people to fill their vacancies.”

Recruiter named entrepreneur of the year by Chamber of Commerce

Posted on 02 March 2010 by admin

Naveed Ahmed, Managing Director of Goldteam, the specialist recruiter in the fmcg, hospitality and healthcare sectors has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Slough Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Naveed, 32, started off contracting in an electronics organisation and soon realised the benefits of recruiting other contractors to work for him – and then supplying them to the industry. He formed Goldteam Recruitment in 2002 as a one man band. Today the company has a turnover of over £8m and has enjoyed significant growth even during the recession.

The award recognised Naveed’s and Goldteam’s commitment to providing employment to local people. “We deal with a low skilled candidate group but have been able provide ongoing temporary work to 700 people from the local economy”, he said.  “By providing this low skilled group with free training in the areas of hygiene and health and safety, we have been able to ensure continuous assignments for what is usually an underprivileged section of our local economy as well as ensuring that they have the necessary skills to be able to secure work. This is a win/win situation providing local employment and obviously at the same time facilitating our own growth and has been made possible by my team who consistently deliver high standards”.

The award also recognised Naveed’s vision is to grow the business to £100m turnover by 2016 whilst achieving an unrivalled reputation for compliance, ethics and innovation. “I want to do this in order to  set a benchmark for our industry as a company that not only cares about making money – but which also cares about how that money is made – a quality I find sadly lacking in our industry today”, he said.
